Good news

We arrived home to the news that Luke is off to Vegas! Congratulations Luke for managing a branch of Flight Centre that has reached its targets and to his staff who helped achieve that. Good recruiting Luke, you have picked a gun team and this is Noah on the left who will be travelling with him as his star recruit. Luke, aka Elvis, is on the right. That must have been a fun day at work!

We managed to get through the first week, the students mostly very happy to be back and talk about their break. Got in a swim and a few walks to renew the fitness program. On Friday I walked with June and Heather through Bidadari to Vernon Park and then Woodleigh Park before coming home past NEX where they were setting up for a mobile live performance by Drama Box in inflatable theatres being set up on the vacant block.

Sandy arrived on Sunday and found

her way to Kovan branch to meet us and join the end of the week celebrations at Joe's.

Eric walked with the group on Monday but I went to the gym for a quick session then Sandy and I caught up in the air con.
So much has gone on since we last chatted face to face in Darwin over Chinese New Year. In the evening we joined many other staff at Blujaz Cafe in Kampong Glam where we had the second floor to ourselves. It was good to catch up with a few people, everyone had arrived back safely although some had experienced unexpected changes to their plans. All in all it seems everyone had a good time. After dinner at Blujaz Cafe a number of us took the still-unacquainted across to Park View Square to be introduced to the wine fairy.

On Tuesday we had a big sleep-in then in the afternoon Sandy and I went to see the new production of 'Far From The Madding Crowd' at Dhoby Ghaut with a few of the other girls from work. We all thoroughly enjoyed it though I was still feeling very under the weather after a huge night. Unusual to see a remake of a story so many of us read as a classic back in high school. Meanwhile Eric got his eyes checked and arranged for new specs. While he was at NEX Sandy had asked him to check out Apple TV and he was so impressed he came home with one. That is when the technology took over and it was just like old times; all three of us getting excited about the different functions and frustrated that it didn't all work perfectly on the first attempt. I'm happy to report we eventually solved it so now Eric can watch lots of music videos on the big tv screen straight from the internet and I have many of our images saved to Flickr and we can look at them on the tv too. It has been far too long since we last backed up our documents but this is achieving 2 goals at the once. We did manage to drag ourselves away for dinner with Peter at Saturday House. He had also had a frustrating day trying to change his address so that he can get technology working for himself.
We did still find time to get in a few swims in our pool during the few days Sandy was with us and visit Suntec City to see the Fountain of Wealth. It was listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world, inspired by the Hindu mandala. This time we turned up in time to go out into the middle and absorb the positive ‘qi’ which should bring us good luck. Keep your fingers crossed. Bill, who is managing the Butterworth Tattslotto syndicate this year, is visiting next weekend so hopefully he will be announcing a big windfall for all of us. At night, the fountain has a laser show and music but we couldn't stay to see it as we had to go off to work and Sandy to the airport for her flight home.

We're so glad she made the effort to come over during her short break and between trips to Sydney. Next we look forward to the arrival of Bill and Robyn who were in Butterworth with us but have recently spent a few days in KL and will be on their way home.
