Beatlemania at MBS

On Saturday night we went to see the Bootleg Beatles at Marina Bay Sands Theatre with Peter and Katie. This band was formed 37 yrs ago and they pay homage to the originals by looking and sounding very authentic. Apart from the fab 4 there was also an 8 piece orchestra on stage. They played 4 sets tracing the early days through St Peppers, to Magical Mystery Tour and finally Abbey Rd and Let it Be with quick costume changes and the whole time the backdrop was film clips and footage of the day. I couldn't believe how many songs I knew the words to. Must have been listening to the EP's Colin and Judy were playing on their little record player. In 2017 they are teaming up with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band this iconic album live in its entirety fifty years to the day of its original release.

Sunday was a long difficult day after that late night but then we met Peter and Katie again for dinner and then retired to our place so Peter could share a bottle of 2003 Dom Perignon Vintage Champaign. Do you mind! It was given to him by a parent of one of his students at the International Sch. He has only been teaching in the Middle Sch for about 6 weeks! Were nice. Then together they indulged in a few samples from his whiskey range he keeps at our place.

On Monday Eric walked with June and Robert along the northern rail trail. He said I would have really enjoyed all the birds. I was very happy to be home in bed appreciating a long sleep-in. Later, I had a lovely long call from Colin and then we joined Leonie and Peter Evenden at the Oasis Hotel, where they are staying for a few days, for a long lunch. It was great to see them again. I haven't seen them since they left at the end of 2014. Eric dropped in to their home in Bunniyong last September when we were home with Mum. Peter still works hard on his physio and continues to gain small improvements in his mobility and stability after the stroke. He is an inspiration. Hopes to get his driving licence in a modified car next month.  So happy for him that his Bulldogs are in the Grand final next weekend. He'll be home to see it.
Eric cooked gumbo for dinner and we had a much needed night at home.
On Tuesday he caught up on some rest and I walked to the Post Office in Kovan to confirm cost of sending some boxes home. Hard to calculate what is going to be needed but it is quite feasible to ship a few boxes as we did when we arrived.
In checking through some cupboards and finding, among other things, golf balls and dress up items to find a new home for, I also found a bottle of gin. How good is that? I have been rationing myself fo these last few weeks, and thinking I might have gone a bit too early. Now I am under pressure to finish it in the weeks left. Guessing my friends remaining will be happy to have the leftovers.
