We have our one-way tickets

Haven't had time to finish that last post from Japan yet. We have so many photos still to go through, but a new post is due as time marches on. On arriving back here we found a flyer in our letterbox advertising the new development going up on the corner of Upper Serangoon Rd where the Old Police Camp stands. They call it Forest Woods but it will bring down all the lovely trees we currently look out over from our lounge room windows. It will have 519 units of between 1-5 bedrooms in 7 towers of 12 storeys. They advertise 60 luxurious facilities including 150m Adventure Zone, 75m long pool, exclusive welcome lobby with wifi, 24 hour operating gym, and a stunning 3 storey clubhouse. The things they include to entice landlords.  But what about our trees we enjoy through the windows? Time to leave.

The first week of term is over already, our second last visitor has been and gone and I have sold one more item and listed more 'stuff' on Gumtree.

We've just had a lovely few days here with Sandy. I'm calling her my new boss already. Who would have thought? Listening to her talk about her school she really has her finger on the pulse and there are a lot of positive things going on there. It will be good to be involved. Meanwhile I have had a look at what is required to get another Working with Children in the NT card completed for both of us.

She arrived while we were at work on Saturday and we had dinner at home afterwards. Having been to Singapore so many times now, she had no particular desire to go anywhere and had made herself quite at home by the time we returned. We had a few new sightseeing options for her to choose from, but she was just happy to spend the time with us. That really suited me too as my left leg has been troublesome. I went for a session of acupuncture on Friday morning and that made the situation a lot worse. I was hardly able to walk by the time the 2 long days of the weekend were over. Despite that, we joined a good number of MAE socialites at Wala Wala Bar in Holland Village for 'start of last term' dinner and drinks. Peter turned up too with his daughter Katie.

On Monday, while Eric went walking with the group, Sandy and I stayed home and I did lots of sciatic nerve relief exercises but they were only aggravating the situation. By Tuesday I went down to see the local Dr and he gave me a cortisone needle into the joint and told me to stop exercising, just rest. I am happy to report that this line of action is making a positive difference. Eric enjoyed his walk from the Botanic Garden, through Adam Park to Bukit Brown Cemetery and out to McRitchie Reserve.

We swam each day but otherwise stayed home relaxing, retelling those old stories and having lots of laughs. The mahjong set has had its last game for the time being and Sandy took it home with her. We also sent another 30 kg of winter clothes and odds and ends home.
This morning we booked our one way tickets home to Darwin. We will be arriving early on the 11th Dec. At this stage we plan to stay in Darwin for Christmas in our own home and then make our way to Victoria to see family and celebrate Mum's birthday.
